This page offers straightforward answers to common questions about the Listening Post. Nothing here is meant to persuade. It’s simply information, so you can decide for yourself.
Is This Part of My VA or Medical Record?
No. Nothing you write in the Listening Post becomes part of a VA, medical, or service record. It is completely separate from any healthcare system.
Can Anyone See What I Write?
No. Your conversations are completely private. They are not read, reviewed, or monitored by people, and they are not shared with anyone else.
Is This Therapy or Counseling?
No. The Listening Post is not therapy, counseling, medical treatment, or mental health care. It does not diagnose, evaluate, or treat anything.
It is simply a private conversation space designed for reflection and clarity.
Is This Monitored or Evaluated In Any Way?
No. There is no monitoring, scoring, assessment, or evaluation of how you use the Listening Post. There are no expectations about what you write or how often you use it.
Do I Have to Talk About Anything Specific?
No. There is no requirement to talk about anything in particular. You decide what you want to talk about.
What If I Stop Using It?
Nothing happens. You can stop at any time. There’s no follow-up, no penalty, and no expectation that you return. If you choose to come back later, the Listening Post will be there.
Does This Replace Other Support I Already Have?
No. The Listening Post is not meant to replace healthcare, counseling, peer support, or any other services you may use. It exists alongside other forms of support — or not at all.
Is There a Right or Wrong Way to Use This?
No. There’s no correct approach, no expected outcome, and no measure of success. If it’s useful to you, you’re welcome to use it as much as you wish. If it isn’t, you can move on.
You decide whether this space is useful to you.
